More flexibility for passenger transport vehicle registrations

1 September 2020

From 1 September, taxi, rideshare, bus and chauffeured vehicle owners will no longer be required to attend a Service SA centre to renew registration.

A system enhancement has streamlined the vehicle inspection process by removing the requirement for passenger transport vehicle owners to present their inspection certificate to Service SA. Instead, the inspection result and next inspection due date will automatically appear online, and allow vehicle owners to complete the registration renewal process, using one of the following options:

These changes also apply to vehicles that are exempt from an inspection.

Direct debit will also be available with a mySA GOV account, to automatically pay registration monthly, quarterly or annually.

Passengers will also benefit from this change by being able to check the current inspection status of a passenger transport vehicle through the EzyReg app, to give confidence the vehicle they are travelling in is safe and roadworthy.

This change will provide vehicle owners with the convenience and flexibility to do what’s important to them to run their business, while also improving wait times at Service SA centres.
