Bid now
The online numeric number plate auction is now live. To bid, visit the numeric number plate auction page.
You have until 7pm on Monday, 22 September 2025 to bid.
Third-party auctioneer, Slattery Auctions and Valuations, is running the auction on behalf of the Department for Infrastructure and Transport.
What you need to know
All numeric plates sold will have ‘Class Specific Rights’. This provides owners long-term rights to their plate. This means the plate:
- can be transferred to vehicles registered in the same name
- sold to a third party.
Anyone can purchase the rights to a numeric plate. However, they can only be placed on a vehicle registered in South Australia.
To enter into a number plate agreement, the purchaser must be established in the South Australian Registration and Licencing database.
The auction helps fund services for South Australians.
