If you are in any doubt as to whether a vehicle is registered or not, it is always advisable to check.

This is especially important if you are driving a car that is not registered to you.

Before heading out on the road you can easily check that a vehicle is registered online using one of these methods:

  • Check your registration details certificate. If you have a mySA GOV account you can access a copy of this online.
  • Enter the South Australian plate number into the online expiry date checker.
  • Check your registration details on the EzyReg app. The app is available for iPhone or Android.

South Australian Police can check a vehicle’s registration status instantly so it’s important that you check that the car you are driving is registered. If you drive an unregistered vehicle on the road you may be committing an offence that includes heavy penalties. Driving unregistered means you also may not be covered by a compulsory third party insurance policy.

The mySA GOV app allows you to set registration and licence renewal reminders which will send push notifications to your phone when the renewal is due. You can select to receive notifications 1, 7, 14, and 28 days before the due date.
