Optus Data Breach

30 December 2022

The South Australian Government encourages all Optus customers that have been advised that their licence details have been compromised through the data breach to apply for a new driver’s licence number.

Optus has identified two main groups where licence details have been compromised:

  • licence number and card identification number both released
  • licence number released.

It is understood that Optus has now contacted customers alerting them to what driver’s licence information has been compromised.

For customers who have been advised that both their licence number and card identification number has been compromised, it is recommended you change your licence number as soon as possible, as release of this information places you at greatest risk of identity fraud.

Customers who have only had their driver’s licence number compromised are still recommended to apply for a change of licence number.

Once your licence number has been changed, a new driver’s licence card will be produced and posted to you. Your new licence will be available digitally through your mySAGOV account and on the mySAGOV app.
