Some tests and service centre transactions return
2 June 2020
A number of tests and service centre transactions suspended due to COVID-19 are being carefully reintroduced by Service SA.
Hazard perception tests
Customers can now book a hazard perception test, with the first tests to be conducted from 1 July 2020.
Bookings are essential and can be made by calling 13 10 84.
As hazard perception tests have resumed, from 1 July 2020 learner’s permit holders will no longer be exempt from the requirement to pass a hazard perception test. Usual requirements to move to P1s will need to be met.
Boat theory tests
Boat theory testing has also resumed, with COVID-19 safety provisions in place. Please call 13 10 84 to make a booking.
All testing will be limited to available space in each centre to ensure social distancing protocols can be followed, with no more than one person per 4 square metres. Additional cleaning of equipment and adjacent areas will also take place.
Service SA is expecting a high volume of calls and patience is appreciated while the service is returned in a safe manner.
In-centre transactions
Other transactions have resumed in service centres, such as replacement certificates/licences, issue of special number plates, change or surrender of number plates, issue a proof of age card, etc.
However, customers are still encouraged to check for an online option before visiting a service centre.
Light vehicle driver training and testing
Driver training and testing in light vehicles resumed on 1 June 2020.
Driving instructors are required to create a COVID-Safe Plan to outline how instructors and students will be kept safe from COVID-19.
The plan must be available in the vehicle. If an instructor does not have a completed plan, the plan is not available in the vehicle or an instructor does not comply with current directions, a fine of up to $5000 can be issued.
