Is your boat registered?

30 September 2019

A small boat on the water. Passengers include one adilt and five childre. All are waering life jackets and there are three fishing rods visible.

The October long weekend marks the start of the boating season, and if you’re thinking of heading out on the water you’ll need to ensure your boat is registered.

If your boat has previously been registered in your name for recreational use in South Australia, you can renew your registration online.

If your boat has been registered previously but in someone else's name, you will need to transfer boat registration into your name.

If your boat has never been registered, you will need to complete an application for initial registration. When you buy a boat, you must register it in your name within 14 days.

Once you have paid the registration, you will be provided with a receipt number and can print a tax invoice which can be used to continue to operate the boat for up to 21 days while you wait for your new registration label to arrive. Your new registration label will be posted to you within 10 working days.

For more information on renewals, or to check registration fees visit the boat registration page.
