Conditional registration scheme

From 1 July 2022, a vehicle will be eligible as a historic vehicle or left-hand drive vehicle under the Conditional Registration Scheme (the Scheme) if it is aged 25 years or more from 1 January in the year the vehicle was manufactured.

This initiative allows more vehicles to be eligible for the Scheme and support South Australia’s strong motor enthusiast culture. Additionally, this change will help preserve South Australia’s proud vehicle manufacturing history.

The Code of Practice for the Scheme will be updated to reflect the change in eligibility criteria for historic and left-hand drive vehicles.  No changes will be made to the conditions of vehicle use.

The new Code of Practice will be available from 1 July 2022.
